Assessment of Student Learning

WNCC has a tradition of assessing student learning, and as the college looks to the future, it seeks methodologies to improve academic achievement. As a part of the colleges role and mission, WNCC believes that the philosophy and purpose of assessing student academic achievement is to accomplish the following:

  • Improve student learning
  • Involve all members of the college community and appropriate advisory committees
  • Measure student learning in all phases of the academic program, but especially the competence of graduates
  • Implement quality improvement based on data collection, analysis, planning and allocation of resources
WNCC provides a wide variety of learning activities that are designed to help students achieve learning outcomes. Assessment methods are used to determine the extent to which students have reached those learning goals. As part of a comprehensive assessment program, WNCC assesses learning at the course, program, general education, and institution levels, as well as within the areas of student services and non-credit offerings.
