Local Supporters Help WNCC Students Experience NYC

SCOTTSBLUFF, NE – Matthew Merryfield, WNCC Music Education Major from Kimball, received a $1,699 grant from the David and Ann Duey Trust to fund a May 2012 trip to New York City. Merryfield, a sophomore with emphasis in trumpet and voice, will perform at Carnegie Hall with WNCC Collegiate Chorale.

This is the second grant given to the WNCC Vocal Program from the Duey Trust. The first was awarded to Katlyn Gibb of Lodgepole in 2010.

Krystin Wilder, WNCC Music Education Major from Loomis, received the $400 Music and More Scholarship to assist with the May 2012 New York City trip. Wilder, a sophomore with emphasis in clarinet and voice, will also perform at Carnegie Hall with WNCC Collegiate Chorale.

"The continued support of our school and community make all things possible for the talented musicians who choose Western Nebraska Community College," said Rita Stinner, WNCC Music Program Director. "We are so very grateful for the superb opportunities provided for our students by these donors."
