1. The Moon shouldn't be a black circle. It's true that you can't see our Moon's surface because it's new moon and the sunlit side of our Moon is facing away from us. However, the blue sky should outshine this hole.
2. As the moon covers the Sun entirely, the sky does turn pitch black.
