Here are a few suggestions to help you prepare for class and exams.

1.  Attend class regularly.  We spend a large amount of time explaining and exampling the material.  If you miss class all you will have is an outline of what was covered.  That isn't enough.

2.  Prepare daily (even Friday!).  Read assigned readings, they are posted daily.  Review the objectives covered on the day they were covered.

3.  Take notes focusing on the descriptions and examples presented in class.  Don't assume that the notes you downloaded from the web are entirely sufficient.

4.  Recopy notes.  At least go over your notes nightly and use a magic marker to highlight the most important points.

5.  Read the book.

6.  Try flash cards listing key words or concepts on one side and the explanation on the other.

7.  Allow ample time to study.  If science is difficult make sure the time is longer.

8.  Study with somebody.  Study groups are very effective.  They work because you are in a position to try to explain something to somebody.  If you don't know it you can't explain it.  Meet twice a week to go over notes and to quiz one another.

Nobody said that college was easy.  It requires some work on your part.  Find some things that work for you and then GET TO WORK!!!!!
