Course Description
This course covers designing, testing, and troubleshooting LANs and which also
includes LAN topologies such as Bus, Star, fiber-optic, wireless LAN and giga technology.
CSMA/CD Ethernet protocol scheme is used in the design and implementing of networks
consisting of UTP and multi-mode Fiber Optic cables. Students are introduced to the data
link layers for the Ethernet, Token Ring, and networking protocols. This course includes
both theory and hands-on training of LAN designs as 10Base2, 10BaseT, 100BaseT, and
multimode fiber optics technology.
General Objectives
TThe goal of this
course is to introduce the student to computer interfacing to networks and LAN design. The
student will be able to discuss the concepts of Data Transmission, Local Area Networks and
Protocols. The student will develop the basic techniques for implementing the installation
of a network, maintaining a network and troubleshooting a network.
