Ways to Give

First of all, thank you for considering a gift to support our mission. We know that if you make a contribution, it will be because you believe in what we do to help our students and because you want to make a change in the lives of others.

A college education represents an opportunity, but often times it can be a barrier. Many of our students unfortunately are without the necessary funding to continue to pursue their educational goals. For the past thirty years, generous donations to the Western Nebraska Community College Foundation have helped to create opportunities for students with unlimited potential but limited financial resources. These investments benefit not only the students, but the entire community as well by encouraging the development of skilled workers and productive citizens.

Friends of the Western Nebraska Community College Foundation have many options available to support the College, each with tax benefits for the donor.

Gifts You Can Give Now

  • Gifts of Cash
Gifts of cash or a pledge of support are the easiest way to support the Foundation. Both are convenient and tax deductible. No gift is too small--every dollar multiplies through the Foundation. With an unrestricted cash gift, you provide the Foundation with the means to meet current needs.

  • Endowments
An endowment is a perpetual resource because the principal remains intact, and investment income is used to provide financial awards to students, faculty and the College. You can make contributions of any size to existing endowments or create a new endowment with a gift of $10,000 in your name or in honor of someone you choose.

  • Gifts of Securities
If you have marketable stocks that have grown substantially in value, your gift generally qualifies not only for the income tax deduction associated with all long-term charitable gifts, but you also avoid all capital gains taxes on your profit. If you sell stock and realize a loss, you can create a charitable deduction through your donation of the cash proceeds. You may also donate mutual fund shares and realize the same tax advantages as a gift of appreciated stock.

  • Gifts of Real Estate
The tax benefits available for gifts of appreciated real estate are virtually identical to those for gifts of appreciated securities. Gifts of appreciated real property, such as undeveloped land, farms, or personal residences may be transferred by deed with no liability for income or estate taxes.

Planning Your Gifts for the Future from Your Estate

Charitable planned giving uses tax, financial and estate planning techniques that enable donors to make charitable gifts, while also deriving personal, tax, and financial benefits for themselves and their heirs (usually children and grandchildren). Creative planned giving techniques can be tailored to meet the specific needs, wishes and objectives of donors, as well as to assist the Foundation in achieving its critical funding goals.
  • Gifts by Will or Living Trust Distribution
You can remember the Foundation in your will or revocable living arrangements. Donors can specify a gift or cash, stocks, bonds, personal property or real estate. You may prefer to give a percentage of your estate or the residual of the estate after gift bequests to family members. Arrangements can be made through your own attorney to make a bequest to the Foundation.

  • Retirement Savings or Insurance Policy
You can name the Foundation as either the owner or one of the beneficiaries in your insurance policy, assign annual dividends, or donate a policy.

  • IRAs and Pension Funds
You can make the Foundation the beneficiary of your individual retirement account or other retirement savings plan.
