Career Academies
Career Academies The Western Nebraska Community College Career Academy is designed to provide Panhandle high school students with opportunities to explore various career fi elds and begin a career pathway related to their interests, talents and abilities.Students begin the program in their sophomore, junior or senior year, starting in the fall. Most Career Academy pathways are one or two years in length, provide students with a solid foundation in each area of interest, and lead to a certificate upon completion. Students may wish to take additional WNCC courses which apply toward an associates degree. Career Academy classes will be held at various times and locations depending on the chosen pathway. Many courses are offered online and some are for dual credit. Students should discuss their options with their pathway instructor or high school guidance counselor. Specific entry-level courses are determined by WNCC faculty, secondary school officials, and business partners. Based on classes taken, students complete between 10-36 credit hours of college-level coursework per year. Certain courses require COMPASS or ACT scores for placement. ![]() Click to enlarge Students Gain
