With Carly Glisan,
Ft. Collins, Colorado

WNCC
sophomore Carly Glisan is a 6-foot forward who loces to shoot the
3-pointer from Ft. Collins, Colo., Glisan and her teammates will be
making a trip to the national tournament over Spring Break. Gilsan
is excited for the trip and said this is totally different from
competing at a state tournament. Glisan is second on the team in
3-point shooting, connecting on 38 percent of her shots (30-of-79).
She is averaging six points this season.
Q: What does it feel like to
be going the national tournament in Salina, Kan.?
A: It is very exciting. I have never been to anything like this.
It is not anything near of going to state for high school. It is
much more intense. I am excited to go.
Q: The team really wasn’t a
favorite to be going, so that makes the trip even more exciting?
A: It is always cool to be the underdog. I wouldn’t exactly
calls us an underdog, but it shows people that anyone can go
anywhere. You just have to put your mind to it.
Q: You started the season at
4-3 and you slowly put it together to have a good season?
A: I think this year was totally different from last year. Last
year we played reallly well from the beginning. This year we had to
build our way up and I think that is what makes a team great.
Q: You have Gulf Coast, the
No. 3 team in the nation; they are going to be tough?
A: They will. I think we just not read so much into who they
are and how good they are suppose to be. We just need to go out
there and do what we do and we will be fine.
Q: Series record between WNCC
and Gulf Coast at nationals is 1-1, so you have beat them before?
A: It should be an intersting game. It will be a good game and I
am excited.
Q: Defense has been the key
for this team in winning?
A: When we have defense, our offensive game just comes. We
just need to really concentrate and if we can get our defense there,
then our whole game will be there.
Q: This team is also known for
3-point shooting, too?
A: It is good because we all can shoot the three, but we also
can go inside and shoot the 15-footers and the 10-footers. I think
we will be a hard team to defend as well.
Q: How much of a 3-pointer
shooter are you? Is that the favorite part of your game?
A: I love to shoot the threes and I prefer to stay outside and
shoot. I love shooting threes.
Q: At regionals this team beat
Sheridan and Miles for the title, what would it mean to accomplish
the same thing at nationals and bring home a national title?
A: I wouldn’t even now. That would be the greatest feeling ever
when it comes to a sport in winning a national title. I think that
is everyone’s goal.
Q: But, it is one game at a
time?
A: It is. You have to take it one game at a time and if you look
too far ahead, that is when a team can come up and bite you.
Q: Spring Break a nationals is
kind of Spring Break for you guys, but not really?
A: It will be good because we also get to play in the national
tournament, which is great and it is a treat in its self. We will
have enough break. I would rather go to the national tournament then
not play at all.
Q: Has the team ever doubted
itself this year in not making the national tournament?
A: I don’t know if we doubted ourselves. It was a struggle in
the beginning just because we didn’t know how well we were going to
be or how good we were going to do. But, eventually when we started
winning more games and saw what we could do, I had a good feeling
that we could go to the tournament and be very strong and win.
Q: There will be a lot of
four-year schools down there too for the sophomores?
A: This is a really important time for the sophomores.
Q:
Would you like to play someplace else?
A: Yes, I
would. It would very nice to go someplace and place.
Q: Has any other colleges
contacted you yet?
A: I have talked to some schools, but I really haven’t looked at
anybody. Not many schools have watched us play. All the schools I
talked to before, kind of faded into the background. That is why I
am looking forward of going to nationals.
