The Associate Degree Nursing Program (AD-N) prepares
qualified students with the skills needed to enter the profession
of nursing. Program graduates are eligible to take the National
Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing
(NCLEX-RN).
Upon passing the exam, students are qualified to
practice as Registered Nurses ( RN ).
The program consists of four college semesters of nursing
courses. Prior to enrolling in the nursing courses, students must
complete the following general education courses: Physiology
and Anatomy, Chemistry, English, Psychology, and Math.
Students may choose to take the program on a full- or part-time
basis. Students opting for the part-time option will do some clinical
rotations during the summer.
Those opting for the full-time
option will do classroom work and clinical rotations during the
school year. Clinical rotations will be during days and evenings
and potentially on weekends.
Program graduates will
receive an associate degree in nursing.

completed admission criteria.
Applications will begin being
accepted on March 1 and must be completed by June 1 of each
year. Late applications will be considered on a space available
basis.
Steps for Admission:
After receiving an application packet, please submit each of the following items to the Health Occupations
Division:
Letter of intent and completed application-included in packet. Official high school transcripts or GED results. Official transcripts for all previously attended institutions of higher learning. Documentation of current Nebraska Basic Nursing Assistant status or current status from state of residence. Minimum of 2.33 (C+) or better in each of the
required general education courses.
Application and transcripts are valid for one year and must
be updated to the year of intended admission as indicated on the letter of intent.
*Admission Criteria for Advanced Placement
The number of advanced placement students will be determined by space available.
Current LPNs have the option to advance place into the second year of the program.
These students MUST have already completed the following general education courses to be eligible for admission into the second year of this program:
·Physiology and Anatomy
·Chemistry
·English
·Psychology
·Math
·Nutrition
·Life Span
·Microbiology
·Introduction to Pathophysiology

1. Submit the following items to the Health
Occupations Division:

maintained throughout the program).
2. Complete all required general education
courses and comparable first year courses with a
minimum of 2.0 (C) or better in every course.
Admission for advanced placement is on a first-come, first-serve basis with all of the above criteria being met. The number of advanced placement students will be determined by space available.
Advanced placement students can complete year two on a part-time basis. Some clinical experiences will need to be completed in the summer.

After being accepted into Year One or as an Advanced
Placement student
The following items MUST be submitted to the
Health Occupations Division BEFORE beginning the first clinical
experience:
Completed physical form. Proof of current CPR-Health Care Provider status
(Must remain current throughout the program and documentation must be in place BEFORE beginning the first fall semester nursing courses.) Proof that immunizations are current, including Hepatitis B series. TB test (must be done within six months of
admission.) Proof of liability insurance (Advanced Placement
students only.)
In order to progress in the program, a minimum of 2.0 (C)
must be maintained in all courses.
NOTE: To obtain a nursing license in Nebraska, the statutes
require the applicant be of “Good Moral Character.”
