WNCC Student Activities - Phi Theta Kappa

Lamda Pi Chapter - Scottsbluff Campus
Alpha Rho Omicron Chapter - Sidney Center

Established in 1918 by Missouri two-year college presidents, Phi Theta Kappa serves to recognize the academic achievements of two-year college students and to provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming. It is currently the largest honor society in America with over 1.3 members and 1100 chapters. Since 1929, it has been recognized as the official honor society for two-year colleges by the American Association of Community Colleges.

At the time of its founding, Phi Theta Kappa was patterned after the official honor society of four-year colleges Phi Beta Kappa. At that time, few programs and services were offered to members. But the explosive growth of community college s in the 1960's led the organization to expand the services it offered to students. Today, Phi Theta Kappa offers Scholarships, Honors Conferences, Leadership Programs, Service Programs and much more.
