for Admission
A student
must:
Present
an authorized grade transcript from an approved or accredited high
school reflecting graduation from that school, or
Present
an authorized transcript reflecting passing scores on the General
Education Development Test (GED),
or
Be dually
enrolled in a secondary school and have permission from that school,
or
Have permission
from the secondary school he/she is attending or last attended,
or have been out of high school for one year prior to College enrollment,
or his/her high school class has graduated. Additionally this student
must demonstrate the ability to benefit from instruction, which
is determined by individual assessment.
Students meeting
the above admission requirements are admitted regardless of age, sex,
ethnic origin, national origin, or handicap. A high school diploma
or GED is not required for enrolling in some programs. However, by
the end of the first academic semester, the student must have passed
the GED in order to be eligible for financial aid.
Admissions
Procedures
Complete
a Student Application (word
or pdf) and
return it to the Student Services
office of the appropriate campus or college center.
Make arrangements
with high school and any college attended to send official transcripts
to the Student Services office of the appropriate campus or college
center. (Students who are still in high school should have transcripts
sent after graduation.)
Submit
an official financial aid transcript from any prior college attended.
Submitting
a report of ACT scores is recommended.
Complete
the COMPASS
basic skills assessment.
Some programs
have special admission requirements
No fee
is required for application or admission. All forms are available
at the Student Services office. A letter of acceptance will be sent
when all documents have been received and processed by the Student
Services office.
Certain
programs and/or courses are identified as ``high demand'' programs
by the College. These are programs and/or courses that have limited
space or equipment and are unable to handle a large number of students.
As in all programs, applications will be accepted according to the
date the application is received by the Student Services office.
Applications with scholarships will not take preference over applications
received at an earlier date. A waiting list will be established
according to the date the application is received.
Qualified
high school students who have been determined by their high school
counselor to be able to benefit by enrolling in selected courses
at the college may do so. The student must:
have
written permission from their high school;
make
arrangements, through the Student Services office, with instructors
as to what course will be taken and at what time.
Residency Attainment
Out-of-state
students may obtain Nebraska residency if they meet any of the following
criteria:
are married
to a Nebraska resident.
have graduated
from a Nebraska high school and have re-established a residence
in the state of Nebraska.
have lived
for six (6) consecutive months in Nebraska and can show proof of
that fact. (See below)
In addition
to meeting any of the above requirements, documentation of three
(3) of the following six (6) items must be supplied:
current
employment in Nebraska
payment
of State of Nebraska income taxes
voter
registration
Nebraska
driver's license
registration
of vehicle as a resident of Nebraska
a checking
or savings account with a Nebraska financial institution
All applications
must be filed with the Student Services office before the second
week of the semester in which the student wishes to claim residency.
