TRiO programs are funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.
Student financial aid programs help students overcome financial barrier to higher education, but TRiO Programs are educational opportunity programs that help students overcome class, social and cultural barriers to postsecondary education.
The programs are designed to assist qualified college students, high school students, and veterans who have honorably served in the U.S. military.
Veterans Upward Bound Program provides educational help to qualified veterans for the improvement of their educational skills before and while they attend a college, university, vocational, or technical school. Assistance is also available for completion of financial aid and scholarship applications.
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly review sessions for students taking historically difficult courses. S.I. is provided for students who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades.
