WNCC Foundation Receives Donation of $25,000 from Local Law Firm

November 14, 2016

Western Nebraska Community College today announced that it has received a $25,000 gift from Douglas, Kelly, Ostdiek, Ossian, Broderick and Vogl Law Firm. As part of the WNCC Works: Expanding the Possibilities campaign, the gift will support the upcoming Performing Arts Center renovation. In addition, Phil and Colleen Kelly have generously helped to fund the "Richard Douglas Memorial Scholarship" endowed fund to support future students at WNCC.

"We are pleased to support WNCC and the "Expanding the Possibilities campaign," said Attorney Phil Kelly. "As a local employer, we believe it is important for the economic vitality of western Nebraska to provide local educational opportunities that support job growth and the educational needs of people throughout the area. Many of the members of our staff have taken classes at WNCC to enable them to assist our attorneys in handling complex matters, and we're grateful that the educational opportunity is available," he added

Douglas, Kelly Law Firm has been providing legal services to clients in western Nebraska since 1977. With offices in Scottsbluff, Chadron, and Crawford, six attorneys provide legal services and assists clients with governmental issues, contracts, real estate transactions, wills and probate, divorce, criminal law, and personal injury.

The donation comes in the midst of the fundraising campaign for the college, which extends through the fall of 2016. This year also marks the landmark 90th anniversary of Western Nebraska Community College. The campaign has raised more than 90 percent of its goal. WNCC joins many community colleges that have launched campaigns to raise private donations and individual giving.

"This gift will be directly invested in our students through a long-term scholarship fund, as well as the Performing Arts Center renovation that will help dozens of future students," said WNCC President Todd Holcomb. "We are very thankful for the commitment of the Douglas, Kelly Law Firm partners, and to Phil Kelly for his long-term support and assistance to WNCC," he added.
