WNCC to Host Free Financial Aid Clinics

October 27, 2016

The Financial Aid department at Western Nebraska Community College is hosting several "Financial Aid 101" student and parent nights throughout the panhandle in November to share important financial aid information and to answer any questions.

Each event includes a financial aid presentation with information on FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) forms, scholarships, PELL grants, and student loans. There are door prizes at each location, including scholarships to WNCC.

"This is the first year the FAFSA has been released October 1st, and it gives us an opportunity to get financial aid information out to students sooner than ever before," says WNCC Financial Aid Director Sheila Johns. "We can also provide tips to parents and students that will make the filing process easier. These sessions will be valuable to brand new FAFSA filers as well as to those who have been through the process before," she added.

Johns stressed that these nights are open to anyone seeking financial aid information. "These informative sessions are not just for prospective WNCC students," she said. "We encourage students interested in attending any college to attend one of our presentations."

WNCC Financial Aid 101 Sessions:

  • November 9, WNCC Alliance Campus, 6:30 p.m.
  • November 15, Bayard High School, 6:30 p.m.
  • November 17, WNCC Sidney Campus, 6:30 p.m.
  • November 19, John N. Harms Center, WNCC Scottsbluff Campus, 10 a.m.
