WNCC Hosts Weekend Activities for Young Children

March 28, 2014

Western Nebraska Community College will host fun learning and literacy activities at the Monument Mall to kick off this year’s Week of the Young Child.

The Early Childhood Education Department invites parents to bring their young children to experience fun, hands-on activities and exhibits on Saturday, April 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

College of Education students and other volunteers will provide book readings, a beanbag toss, creation of Ooblek (a safe, simple form of silly putty), and an exhibit that includes real dinosaur fossils. Parents may also access a wide variety of helpful information regarding early childhood development. Every child who attends will receive a container of Play-Doh®.

WNCC’s Early Childhood Program and the Education Professions Club offer this event with assistance from Scotts Bluff Public Schools, Sixpence Program, Early Development Network, UNL Extension, Head Start, Department of Health and Human Services, and several local childcare centers.
